Prolotherapy

What is Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy injections involve injecting an irritant solution, Dextrose, into injured or painful areas to stimulate the body's natural healing process.

How does it work

Prolotherapy works by injecting dextrose (or other irritants) into your body causes cells in that area to kick into high gear and heal you in ways they weren’t before. Your body responds to the dextrose in prolotherapy injections as a threat or injury, which — in theory — triggers your immune and healing responses to rush to the area to “fix” the dextrose and, in the process, repair your damaged tissue.

How is it performed

Prolotherapy is a course of 3-7 injections spread 1 week apart.  Dextrose and Lidocaine are combined to form this mixture.  The mixture is then injected into the target area.

Aftercare

Patient will need to abstain from NSAIDs and steroids.
